Archeological research

In 2016, as part of the building modifications to adapt the space for exhibition purposes, it was necessary to carry out extensive rescue archaeological research in the area of the basement of the Müller House (building on plot no. 558). In four probes, which were deployed following the construction interventions, important knowledge was obtained about the construction development of the house. Since these situations were located under the floor, in the basement of the building, which underwent the last major reconstruction between 1720 and 1726, these were very valuable situations that were disturbed only minimally by younger interventions. As part of the work, the fortification wall of the former Opava fortifications, which "overlaid" the older settlement and later served as the foundation for the younger development, was detected in this area.
